Why Product Research Saves Money Before You Order from India

Why Product Research Saves Money Before You Order from India

The cost of skipping research

Most sourcing losses do not come from fraud — they come from assumptions. Assuming a product exists at the specification you need. Assuming the quoted price includes what you think it includes. Assuming the supplier's capacity matches your timeline. Each assumption is a small bet; stacked together, they are the project.

What structured research actually answers

A proper feasibility study answers five questions before money moves: Is this product made in India at your specification? Who makes it, and are they credible? What does it really cost, structured comparably? What compliance requirements apply in your destination market? What are the realistic lead times and minimum quantities?

Research deliverables you should expect

Insist on defined deliverables: a supplier shortlist with profiles, a quotation comparison on consistent terms, a specification match assessment, indicative landed-cost considerations and a clear statement of risks and unknowns. Research without defined deliverables is just conversation.

When research is worth paying for

Research pays for itself when order values are meaningful, when the product is customised or regulated, when you are entering a new category, or when a failed shipment would damage your own customer relationships. For commodity repeat purchases with a proven supplier, it matters less.
